Whenever we talk about damsels in distress and their knights in shining armours, Bollywood is the first thing that comes to our minds. The entertainment industry is infamous for writing female characters who either act as a prop or exist solely to support the male protagonist. Honestly, we’re bored of watching male-centric Hindi movies where the good guy fights the bad guy while the girl stays at home. Apparently, Katrina Kaif was too and that’s why she asked Rohit Shetty to direct a cop drama with a female lead.
The actress was recently seen on The Kapil Sharma Show to promote her new movie Sooryavanshi. Kat revealed that she had suggested the director cast her as the protagonist in an action movie based on a female cop. It seems that Rohit has considered her suggestion and planning a movie with a female police officer in the lead role
In a recent interview with a leading daily, Rohit was asked why all his stories showcased alpha men saving the world and whether he would ever have a female protagonist in his film. The director revealed that he had to drop two of his projects that could have had a female lead due to the pandemic. He said, “Without a female lead or cop, the universe won’t ever be complete. We are waiting because we all have lost two years of our lives. Today we would be discussing my 17th film, not the 15th. Sooryavanshi was supposed to be released two years ago.”
He added that while an all-female cop based movie was not on the table, he would defs release a drama with a woman officer as the main character soon. Also, he confirmed that it would be a big-budget film and said, “With a woman at the helm, my film will be at the level of Singham or Sooryavanshi. Till the time I don’t get that kind of a story, I can’t proceed just because there is a demand for a female cop in this universe, and I can understand that. Whenever I make this film, I want to make it into a bigger scale film for sure.”
While we are excited about this movie, sadly, Katrina won’t be a part of it. Turns out, since she has already played the role of a cop’s wife in Sooryavanshi, Rohit cannot cast her as a police officer in any of his upcoming projects.
Well, NGL, we cannot wait to meet the B-town actress who will say “Aati Majhi Satakli!”
