An epitome of beauty, elegance, and poise, Rekha is considered to be a woman of mystery. While she often graces fashion events, launches, and more, the actress likes to keep her private life away from the spotlight. After a rather public romance with a veteran Bollywood star, Rekha has been quite guarded about her love life. However, recently, Rekha’s biographer made some surprising revelations about her relationship.
Biographer Yasser Usman claimed that Rekha has been in a relationship with her secretary Farzana. The writer shared the Khoobsurat star’s journey in his book Rekha: The Untold Story. A quote from the book reads— “Farzana is a perfect partner for Rekha. She is her consultant, her friend, and her supporter, and Rekha simply can’t live without her. In fact, only Rekha’s trusted secretary Farzana — who some have claimed is her lover — is permitted inside her bedroom; not even domestic help are allowed entry.“
He further called Farzana a ‘formidable gatekeeper’ who ‘controls and tightly monitors the comings and goings’ in Rekha’s life. It was Farzana who made it possible for Rekha to live a life of mystique and secrecy.
It is hardly a surprise that Rekha is close to her secretary but this is a big claim. Until we hear it from the horse’s mouth, it is best to not speculate.
Looking Back At Farzana & Rekha’s Friendship
Rekha and Farzana’s relationship goes decades back. The two met in the ’80s. In an interview, Yasser shed light on their friendship and said, “Farzana’s father was a production controller. When she initially entered the industry, she wanted to be a director. She even assisted some of them. Soon after she realised it wasn’t her cup of tea. Farzana then got in touch with Rekha and became her secretary-cum-manager in the mid-80s.”
Rekha has often called Farzana her ‘soul sister’. But that’s all she has claimed. I believe unless Rekha speaks about relationships, the best thing to do is respect her privacy. Let the woman be, folks!
