Can I start with the texture? Because it is impeccable and every swipe feels like a touch of velvet on the lips. This is the Manish Malhotra Beauty by MyGlamm Soft Matte Lipstick in the shade Romantic Rouge. Although a creamy-matte formula, it leaves a subtle sheen on the lips. This is my top pick, mostly because my lips are chapped AF.
It’s Creamy But It’s Matte… IYKYK
Maybelline New York’s Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick is a cult favourite and for good reason. The formula is buttery soft and comfortable on the lips. I got it for 50% off on a sale. If you are looking at value for money, this would be it. The shade Red Liberation is perfect, not too dressy, not too casual, you know? If I’m being completely honest, I wear this to walk my dog too.
‘Coz It’s Smooth Like Butter
Living up to Taylor’s lyrics, the Siren In Scarlet lipstick by Swiss Beauty offers an intense cherry-red pout. Honestly, I have been using this one for a while now and it definitely feels 5x more expensive than it is. It is not one of those drying matte lipsticks that suck the soul out of our lips.
Your Daily Swipe Of Hydration
Finding the perfect red lipstick for medium skin can be slightly tricky. I am a medium skin girl with warm orange undertones and the MyGlamm POSE HD Lipstick in Carmine Red feels like it was custom-made for me. It is a red lip that always gets me compliments! It gets bonus points for hydrating my flaky lips.

TBH, I expected this shade to be royal (going by the name) and reserved it for special occasions, but this is more of an everyday shade. You know that soft, barely there red that almost seems like coral? The Nykaa Matte To Last Transfer-Proof Liquid Lipstick is also quite handy ‘coz it fits inside my smallest bag.
This One’s Intense & Long-Lasting
An OG but a keeper. This is probably the first ‘real’ lipstick I ever tried. I remember sneaking into Maa’s closet and trying this on. It is the Lakme 9To5 lipstick in the shade Red Coat. It might not last through my random burger indulgences, but otherwise, the colour payoff is pretty decent – especially for the price tag it comes with.
It’s A Promise Of Precision
I use this to overline my lips before swiping on a shade of nude lipstick. But I tried wearing it otherwise too and I’ve gotta admit I’m impressed. BTW, it comes with a built-in sharpener too.
