Excuse me while we celebrate a little on how fast we’re moving towards inclusivity. You know the society is headed in the right direction, despite what people would have you believe, because there is finally a radio show that is meant exclusively for the LGBTQ community of India.
Called Gaydio and hosted by Harish Iyer, the renowned LGBTQ activist, it’ll be aired on Radio Ishq 104.80 FM every Sunday at 12 PM.
Since Radio Ishq, as the name suggests, is all about spreading love and positivity, this time they are specifically doing it for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning. It’s high time we addressed their issues and struggles as well.
Iyer, who is in the list of top 100 most influential LGBT people in the world according to The Guardian, will be talking about his personal struggle with his sexual identity as well as others who’ve come out of the closet. Speaking about the show, Harish said, “My intent is to keep it as inclusive and personal as possible. Radio is a very personal medium. The fact that it is a sound only medium makes it even more universal and accessible. I am sure initiatives like these would give the listener a better understanding of gender and sexuality. This show would focus on the lives of LGBTQ people and understand that we are all the same and that #LoveIsLove without tags.”
