Eradicating The Myths Around Menstruation
Aditi Gupta is the co-founder and managing partner of Menstrupedia, an educational comic designed to fight period stigma. Tired of dealing with menstrual stigma in her personal life, Gupta decided to make it her dissertation topic in college. The alarming findings of her research led her to start the Menstrupedia comic in 2012. Nine years later, she has impacted nearly 13 million young girls internationally.
The booklet is a part of the school curriculum in over 10,000 schools, available in almost all Indian languages. Adding to her list of impressive accolades, she is also a TED speaker, a UN Goalkeeper, and was listed in BBC 100 women 2015.
Aditi Gupta’s 2020 Power Move
In 2020, after the lockdown was announced, she took her teachings online and started an initiative called Menstrupedia’s Master Class to educate children, parents, and potential educators about menstruation. Her masterclasses were attended by young girls and parents from across 26 countries. Gupta not only educated and empowered young women about menstruation but also gave them the tools to become menstrual educators themselves. All of this, while managing to run and create a financially viable business.
