Pavitra Rishta is a show that has made a special place in our hearts over the years. It aired for the first time in 2009 and told us the story of Manav and Archana, their love and their struggles. The daily soap was relatable, realistic and made us quite emotional when it went off the air in 2014. Also, it was the first Hindi serial that starred late actor Sushant Singh Rajput in the leading role. These are a few of the many reasons why we are excited about Pavitra Rishta 2.0, the digital spin-off of the OG show. Well, its first trailer is promising us that we will not be disappointed.
Ankita Lokhande will be reprising her role of Archana on the show and Shaheer Sheikh will be stepping into SSR’s shoes to play Manav. They shared the trailer on their Instagram handle recently and we’ve been spellbound ever since. Honestly, there could have been no better actors to play these characters and this video is proof. Take a look:
Ankita and Shaheer wrote in the caption, “Pyaar aur Parivaar ke beech mein Archana aur Manav kisse chunenge? (What will Archana and Manav choose between love and family?” TBH, the trailer is making us feel nostalgic AF! Producer Ekta Kapoor has recreated the OG magic of the serial and it feels as if we have travelled back in time.
Just like the OG plot, Pavitra Rishta 2.0 will also revolve around Archana and Manav’s relationship, their family and their financial problems. The two will agree to get married, but their love story will hit a rough patch because of Usha Nadkarni’s (Manav’s mother) lies. Only time will tell whether the two will be able to overcome their differences.
Shaheer had revealed in an interview with a leading daily that he was apprehensive about playing the role that was once played by SSR. While talking about it, he said, “Then I thought, knowing Sushant he was one to take every challenge head on. And so I decided that while it is scary to step into his shoes & live up to audience expectations… it is scarier to NOT even try. And so I did what I felt he would do, if he was in my position. I took the challenge.”
Ankita also shared her excitement and said during an interview, “Rarely does one do a role or a project which transforms their lives completely. Pavitra Rishta was that project for me as the love I received from the audience for Archana’s character was unparalleled. So, how could I turn down the opportunity to reprise the role and continue the legacy of Archana? I am so grateful to Ekta and ZEE for reviving Pavitra Rishta and for having faith in me again. I am eager to see the audience’s reaction to Archuu all over again.”
Pavitra Rishta 2.0 will premiere on September 15 on Zee5 and we have already marked the date on our calendar. Just counting the days now!
