While scouring the internet for updates on RajKummar Rao-Patralekhaa Paul’s wedding last week, we stumbled upon a precious nugget of information. We got to know that the couple is all about handwritten letters and the old school kind of love. Some rumours further suggested that RajKummar intended to give Patralekhaa a bunch of old letters that he never sent to her as a wedding gift and we think that it doesn’t get more romantic than that. But then again, hasn’t their entire wedding been a love letter in itself? Take, for instance, Patralekhaa’s wedding veil.
The instant the couple’s wedding pictures went live last night, it was Patralekhaa’s classic bridal look and her wedding veil that caught our attention. While the minimal scarlet saree and matha patti reminded us of Jaya Bachchan, the inscribed kinari of her veil definitely reminded us of Deepika Padukone. However, we were left a little lost on what exactly the veil said given that the inscription was written in Bengali. Well, guess what? We finally know what it means and let’s begin by saying that she wore a literal love note for her husband through the veil.
The Bengali inscription says, “Aamar poraan bhora bhalobasha aami tumaaye somorppon korilaam” and translates to “I surrender to you my love-filled heart.” Well, personalisation done right, we’d say! There is something so touching, so beautiful about the fact that Patralekhaa chose to express her love for RajKummar in Bengali, her mother tongue. It is almost like trying to tell someone that you love them in the most unadulterated, convincing, and reassuring way possible and there is a vulnerable beauty to that.
That said, both the bride and groom wore their heart on sleeves for the wedding and if you have read RajKummar and Patralekhaa’s Instagram captions dedicated to each other, you’d agree. We run the risk of sounding cliched here but these two are really #CoupleGoals. Arent’ they?
