Seriously, I legit saw the show from my terrace as uncles downed glasses of questionable liquor and then went on shaking their bellies to some shady music SANS ANY MASKS. But that doesn’t even begin to describe the current shaadi season madness in India.

Two weeks ago, I got invited to a wedding right after I told my friend that I was COVID-19 positive!!!! In fact, I had tested positive that very day and despite that, my friend told me very nonchalantly, “I don’t know. You are coming to the wedding. Abhi to there’s a week left.” (I mean screw the 14-day quarantine logic, right?)

But wait there is more, I don’t know about you but every time I open my social media, at least two people get married and I am a social media addict to help you with a perspective here. And no these aren’t fleeting exaggerations but the stark truth of what’s happening in the country right now. Just last week, a record 4000 weddings took place in Jaipur and this is news data! I could go on and on but I am sure that you have been observing the madness yourself.

It is as if the pandemic absolutely ceased existing in India the moment shaadi season started. Honestly, I am losing it over the kind of recklessness that Indians have been showing and so is Twitter. However, seems like the netizens are already past the frustration phase, have made their peace with the covidiots, and enjoying the shaadi season in their own special way i.e. with jokes and memes.
