If I had a penny for every time Bollywood made a remake of an epic song, I’d be a millionaire. For the past couple of years, having at least one remixed song in every film has become a trend. But while a few of these remakes are a blessing in disguise, most of them turn out to be a disaster. These remixes are not just a shame to the original artists but also make you question the very existence of humanity (and technology) every time you hear ‘em! Well, we just have a new remix to prove our point.
Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani starrer Satyaprem Ki Katha is all set to hit the big screen soon. While the fans were eagerly waiting to see their crackling chemistry, the makers released the teaser of the desi rendition of the Pakistani song Pasoori.
Since the original song was a hit and became the 2 A.M. vibe in every house, fans were clearly not happy with its Indian remake. Twitterati criticised the makers and warned them of the backlash they may face. A few also pleaded for the song to be left untouched, emphasising its importance to them and their love for it. A user wrote, “Why would anyone even think of “re-creating “the genius of a song #Pasoori ? As an Indian, I apologise to @alisethimusic & @Shaegilll and the entire team of @cokestudio @cokestudiopak I am sorry we (as usuals) messed up and made shit of your beautiful est song.” Another Pakistani cricketer tweeted, “1.5 billion People In India Still Can’t produce a single song on their own. Idiots. #PasooriNu” Here, take a look at similar tweets:

Certain songs are meant to be left untouched, regardless of how talented the legends behind the reprise versions may be. While they may do justice to the song, the soul of the original will forever endure. #PasooriNu is a prime example of this timeless phenomenon.

While the makers might have put their own twist and tadka to make this new version a hit, it’s a known fact that it will never match the magical depth of the OG. Guess we might have to just wait for the full song to release to see if Bollywood has done any justice to it.
