There was a girl in my college who went under depression when her silly ex-boyfriend told the whole campus that she had furry boobs. Sorry, not funny. Let’s accept it: most of us have hair on our breasts. Fine, thick, pokey, long, black, brown, golden – it’s ALL normal up there. In fact, everyone has hair on their body. Wouldn’t it be odd if the breasts were left out of the picture? Oh God, no!
Depending on your genetics, hormone levels and lifestyle – the growth and texture of hair around your nipples can differ. Black, pube-like strands around areolae (circular area of pigmented skin) region can sometimes look weird, but as long as it doesn’t harm you, you need not be bothered by it.
However, if you’re yet not comfortable with the idea of hair on your boobs, you can pluck them using a tweezer. For a larger patch, a razor or waxing would do. Be careful while removing breast hair, because your skin is super sensitive and can easily get irritated. Laser treatment or electrolysis can help keep the fuzz out for a longer period of time.
Some women also have hair that sprouts in odd places like their chin, earlobes, belly button, buttcheeks as well. If it’s just 2 or 3 large sprouts it’s fine, but if you find hair that grows in bunches, you need to see a doctor soon. The shift of hormones could be because of periods, pregnancy, menopause or even worse, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The symptoms of PCOS include excessive hair growth, mood swings, irregular periods and oily skin. If you face any of these problems, you must go for a check-up with an expert.
If it’s someone who you know who has breast hair, don’t point a finger at them and laugh. Be there for them and tell them that they’re beautiful just the way they are. If it’s you, then it’s time to embrace who you are. Love your body and accept it for the way it looks like. After all, self-love is the best love! Good luck.
