Indian Idol 12 came to an end on August 15 and its Grand Finale night was truly amazing. It aired for almost 12 hours (insane, right?) and singer Pawandeep Rajan took the winner’s trophy home. While the season was quite interesting, we loved watching former judge, Neha Kakkar, perform frequently with the contestants. It was a bummer when she had to leave the show, but we were glad that her sister, Sonu Kakkar, stepped into her shoes.
Neha was replaced because she couldn’t continue shooting during the pandemic. The singer recently appeared on The Kapil Sharma Talk Show and spilled beans about her replacement and it’s surprising AF!
During the interview, host Kapil Sharma asked Neha, “During Indian Idol, you appeared as a judge for a few episodes, and then Sonu took your place. Does your entire family have a contract with Sony TV?”
Neha quickly replied that it’s wise to give your seat to your family member once you decide to move on. She said, “Dekho saara kursi ka khel hai. Kursi chorr ke jaao toh apne hi bande ko chorr ke jaana chaiye (It’s all about that chair. When you leave it, you must ensure that someone from your family takes it).” Well, Sonu was a fab judge and we hope to see the Kakkar sisters judging Indian Idol 13 together.

Kapil also shared a hilarious anecdote and recalled the time when he congratulated the singer assuming that she’s pregnant. For the unversed, Neha and Rohanpreet Singh had shared a pic on their social media handles last year where she was seen cradling a baby bump. They later revealed that it was to promote their music video, Khayal Rakhiya Kar.
While talking about it, the host said, “I got so emotional, I’ve known her for years, so I commented on the post ‘God bless you.’ I even personally messaged her to send my wishes. She then told me, ‘Bhaiya, this is for a song.'”
TBH, that had confused us all! But, we are glad that the song was a massive hit just like her new music video, Kanta Laga, that was released on September 7. BRB, going to listen to it once again!
