Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi welcomed their baby boy on October 3 last year. We have been waiting to meet the munchkin ever since then. While his face was always well-hidden, we wondered when his mom and dad would share more updates about him. They had informed us earlier that they were yet to find a name for their son that would suit his cute persona perfectly. Well, finally after three months, the actors have revealed what they call their angel and it’s every bit adorbs!
So fam, meet Guriq Singh Dhupia Bedi, Neha and Angad’s little boy! We love the fact that the parents have used both their surnames and while talking to a leading daily, the actress said, “We are happy and extremely proud that we attach both our names with our son and daughter’s (Mehr) name. There you go, three months later, now you know what we call him.”
Neha explained the meaning of her baby’s name and we have to say, it’s hella beautiful. She said, “Guriq means one with God. One from God and saviour of the world. It is a different name and we love it, even the spelling is beautiful and unusual. The credit for the name goes to the mother, and the credit for the spelling goes to the father [Angad].”
We gotta say, we’re loving this teamwork because the ultimate result is totes perfect! The couple always wanted a name for their second child that represented purity and beauty, and we think they did just that. While talking about the hard work that went into finding the right name for the baby, Neha said, “I came up with the name, but when it comes to a child, it is always a combined effort. I stumbled upon the name, and the meaning was beautiful. We always wanted something that has a beautiful meaning and is a slightly unusual name.”
Interestingly, while Neha liked the name ‘Guriq’ instantly, Angad took some time to get used to it. “The most important thing was that both mom and dad had to come around it. Mom came around instantly and Guriq’s dad took a while to come around, but I’m glad he did,” she added.
The Devi actress shared that her son loves that everyone calls him Guriq and even responds when he’s being called with it. She said, “We are glad that we zeroed in on Guriq, because we love the sound of it. He (her son) also reacts beautifully to the name. He is just three months, and now he recognises sounds way more.”
While we love the name Guriq, we love what his elder sister, Mehr, calls him even more. She has decided to address her little brother as Koala brother and OMG, how cute is that?! In fact, it has become Guriq’s nickname and while talking about it, Neha said, “That’s his pet name given by his loving sister. We also keep calling him, koala bear. We love it because she stuck by the original, and we came up with the name much later.”
