Remember Bride & Prejudice? Marigold Hotel, Bend It Like Beckham or Bollywood Hollywood? Basically, those NRI movies that show India as regressive, conservative and represent it using just ostentatious weddings. Add 5 Weddings to the list. It is sad to watch an actor like Rajkummar Rao become just another pawn in this accentuated-accent-loving film. The trailer of the movie was launched but the trailer meant for ‘India’ is said to be coming soon. Not this fake, I hope. Nargis Fakhri plays an Indian-origin second generation girl who is forced to attend weddings in India and write an article on it, to get ahead at work. Rajkummar Rao plays the cop who escorts her around.

The trailer looks like a spoof of a decent script. If you really wanted to portray an NRI love story, you should have taken notes from Namastey London or Patiala House, sparing us the horror of whatever this movie might hold. P.S. It’s set to hit theatres on September 21st, not sure about the ‘Indian’ theatres though.
