Nach Baliye, the dance reality show, made a comeback with its ninth season last month. The show that has delivered many controversial and entertaining episodes so far, this time around decided to do things differently. Right from being produced by the bhai of Bollywood aka Salman Khan to changing their theme and getting ex-couples together, the dance reality show makers have included all the masala. But, it looks like they forgot to include the dance performances.
Here’s looking at all the fights, accusations and all the drama that unfolded on and off the stage (at rehearsals) of Nach Baliye 9 so far.
When Urvashi Dholakia Accused The Makers For Being "Partial"
Urvashi Dholakia, the OG Komolika and ex-lover Anuj Sachdeva were recently eliminated from the show. While their friendly pranks on each other were winning hearts, the jodi has constantly been in the bottom two since the beginning of this season. Their last act on the show was quite a seductive performance. Unfortunately, all that couldn’t save the jodi from getting evicted.
After the eviction, Urvashi accused the makers of misusing her image and disrespecting her.“How can a couple be consistently moving up the scoreboard and yet be at the bottom four times in a row? Is this a dance show or a popularity contest? And if we are being judged on popularity, then I am not ready to believe that 35 years of work leads to a low fan base. Where’s the scoreboard to show where each of us stands when it comes to the audience’s votes plus judges’ scores? If the show was all about young couples, then why bring us in? If you have brought us on the show, then why the partiality?” she said.
Well, we will certainly miss this jodi on the show.
The Spat Between Exes Madhurima Tuli & Vishal Aditya Singh

If you are TV fanatics (like us,) you would know that things didn’t end well between Madhurima and Vishal back when they were dating. The duo has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. In fact, initially, the Kulfi Kumar Bajewala actor refused to take up the show with ex-beau and Chandrakanta actress. But, eventually, the makers convinced them and the two exes decided to work together again ‘coz well, drama sells!
Reportedly, the two got into a heated argument on the sets of the show post which Vishal stormed of the stage. If reports are to be believed, the situation got so serious that Madhurima slapped Vishal in front of the entire choreography team. And no, this wasn’t scripted. As it turns out, the scuffle is real and there’s a leaked video making the rounds on the internet.
And as if that wasn’t enough, the makers brought Madhurima’s mom on the show, who asked Vishal why has he changed after her daughter broke up with him.
The couple recently got evicted from the show and in the name of entertainment, entertainment..you guessed it..entertainment, had another argument on the show. Madhurima brought up the topic again and this time (no, she didn’t slap Vishal again), she ended up smashing the mike on the floor. Raveena Tandon lashed out at the two for being unprofessional.
Totally unnecessary! Can we please get back to the dance show?
Creating Drama Out Of Everything
Prince Narula’s brother, Rupesh, died due to accidental drowning in Toronto, earlier this month. And around the same time, television actors Prince Narula and Yuvika Chaudhary were revealed as contestants on the premiere episode of Nach Baliye season 9. Despite the sad news, Prince and wife Yuvika shot for the premiere the same day they got to know about Rupesh’s death.
The former Bigg Boss contestant broke down when the topic of his brother’s death was brought up on the show. Salman Khan, who co-hosted the episode, offered words of support for Prince.
“To lose someone this young is the most difficult thing in life. You have come here (on Nach Baliye) despite your brother’s demise… I think you’re the strongest man I have ever come across and now you win this show. You need to win this show and you need to win it for your brother,” Salman said, calling an emotional Prince a ‘winner’.
It was heartbreaking to see teary-eyed Prince. However, the makers went a little over the top by showing the AV, where the devastated couple was trying to pull off their rehearsals. Cleary, makers were clearing using the tragic incident to boost TRPs. Well, when has reality television ever been ethical?
The Falls & The Injuries
Well, all seasons of Nach Baliye has seen accidents and injuries. And this season is no exception. Kundali Bhagya actress Shraddha Arya had a pretty bad accident while performing with beau Alam Makkar on the show.
Alam was holding Shraddha upside down during a dance sequence and his grip loosened for a moment. Shraddha slipped and bumped her head on the floor. The actress blanked out for a few seconds from the impact of the fall. The jodi finished their act as soon as Shraddha recovered.
One of the most popular celebrity couples on the show, Anita Hassanandani and husband Rohit Shetty has been winning hearts with their crackling chemistry. Recently, a rehearsal clip of this jodi started making rounds on the internet. Reason: while rehearsing their steps on a block of ice, Anita slipped. Take a look at the video:
Well, the show certainly isn’t what it used to be. Someone tell the makers to include more of ‘nach’ than drama in this dance reality show, please!
