This is not the first time the former Indian caption has been conferred with such a distinct honour. Dhoni received his Padma Shri back in 2009 and was bestowed honorary Lt. Colonel rank in 2011 by the territorial army. The Indian Army gave MS Dhoni this Honoury commission, as Dhoni being a youth icon will inspire many youngsters to follow his lead and serve the country.

Joining his side at the ceremony was his loving and supporting wife, Sakshi Dhoni, who was glowing with pride in a resplendent yellow saree (supporting Chennai Super Kings, maybe!). The man of the hour was also snapped in with his adorable daughter post the ceremony, who is pulling off a Beret better than we ever could!

Peers and fans alike have showered their congratulations on Dhoni for his monumental achievement. At just 36 years of age, Dhoni has managed to do more than many do in a lifetime and we applaud him for that!
It was absolutely wonderful to see the pride with which @msdhoni wore his Territorial army uniform while receiving the well deserved #PadmaBhushan today, exactly 7 years after we won the 2011 World Cup. Heartiest congratulations ! pic.twitter.com/ROdMdM7aQk
