But wait till you hear about these billionaires who literally spared no expense! From the Ambanis to the Mittals, here’s how much India’s most influential and rich families spent on weddings.

Isha Ambani & Anand Piramal – 700 Crores

Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal’s wedding was one of the most talked about affairs in our country. And why wouldn’t it be? First, the Ambanis hosted an engagement ceremony at Lake Como, Italy. Then a pre-wedding bash at The Oberoi Udaivilas, Udaipur. Beyoncé gave an epic performance and reportedly charged Rs 1.5 crore for her 45-min appearance. Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Sachin were among the few who attended the bash.

Then in 2018, Isha and Anand tied the knot at the Ambani’s residence in Mumbai. For her wedding, Isha wore an exquisite creation by Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla, which reportedly cost around 90 cr. Her wedding invites featured the ‘Om’ symbol and played the Gayatri Mantra when opened. Isha and Anand’s wedding allegedly cost a whooping Rs 700 cr.

Sushanto Roy & Seemata Rao – 554 Crores

Former Indian billionaire Subrata Roy, of Sahara multi-billion dollar conglomerate Sahara India Pariwar, hosted a double wedding for his sons. In 2004, brothers Sushanto and Seemanto got married at the same venue in Sahara Stadium in Lucknow, and it was one hell of an event.

For his son’s wedding, Subrata flew in guests on private jets. There were around 1100 guests in attendance, who were served over 100 cuisines. Powerful personalities like A.B. Vajpayee, Laloo Prasad Yadav, Amitabh Bachchan, and the Kapoor khaandaan were in attendance. To make the wedding even more memorable, Subrata married off 110 underprivileged girls at the same venue. He reportedly splurged around 554 crores.

Rajeev Reddy & Brahmani Reddy – 500 Crores

Former minister and businessman Janardhan Reddy spared no expenses at his daughter’s wedding, quite literally! Brahmani married Rajeev Reddy, the son of a business tycoon in Nov 2016. It was a five-day celebration that took place at the Bangalore Palace. The epic wedding was attended by 50,000 guests, which included top Bollywood stars and politicians. 3000 security personnel were deployed at the venue, invitation cards were sent out with LCD screens. In addition to that, 15 helicopters, 40 bullock carts, and 2000 taxis were arranged for transporting guests. There were recreations of ancient temples at the venue, designed by Bollywood art directors.

But that’s not it! The bride wore a Kanjivaram saree worth nearly 17 cores that featured gold threadwork all over and jewellery worth Rs. 90 Lakha. Brahmani and Rajeev’s wedding was estimated to be around Rs 500 crores.

Vanisha Mittal and Amit Bhatia – 200 crores

When you are Laxmi Mittal’s only daughter, your wedding has got to be lavish. Vanisha Mittal married London-based banker Amit Bhatia in 2004. It was a six-day affair that took place in France and featured a performance by Kylie Minogue, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Reportedly, Javed Akhtar even penned a play that was performed by the Mittal family. Fireworks display also took place at the Eiffel Tower garden.

The wedding took place at Vaux-le-Vicomte, a 17th-century castle. Reportedly, over 240 crores were spent on the wedding.

Shristi Mittal and Gulraj Behl – 500 Crores

Following his brother Laxmi Mittal’s footsteps, Pramod Mittal also made sure to go all out for his daughter’s wedding. Shristi Mittal married investment banker Gulraj Behl in 2013. The wedding was held in Barcelona and was a three-day gala. Around 500 guests attended and were also asked to sign a confidentiality agreement.

The wedding menu was curated by Michelin-star Spanish chef Sergi Arola. 200 butlers and cooks were flown to Spain from India and Thailand. Helicopters were also arranged for the photographers to capture the festivity from all angles. Shristi and Gulraj cut a 60kg six-tier wedding cake. The cost of the wedding is estimated to be around 500 crores.

Lalit Tanwar and Yogita Jaunapuria – 250 crore

Lalit Tanwar and Yogita Jaunapuria’s wedding in 2011 was nothing sort of spectacular. For starters, the groom was gifted a helicopter worth Rs 21 crores. The wedding took place in Jaunpur, Haryana, and saw 15,000 people in attendance. They were given a shagun of Rs 11k. At the lagan ceremony, guests were gifted silver biscuits, safari suits, and Rs 2,100 in cash. Neha Dhupia performed at the wedding. The total expenditure of the wedding was around Rs 250 crores.
