Mira Rajput Kapoor Lets The Moon Decide When To Get A Haircut

Folklore has it that a full, glowing moon triggers humans to shapeshift into werewolves for a night; but Mira Rajput Kapoor believes that it does something different. Mira’s belief is not nearly as aggressive or intense. She simply holds that the moon determines how quickly or slowly your hair grows; and that’s why she typically schedules her haircuts during a certain phase of the moon: the full moon.

While the theory sounds bizarre and lacking, many endorse it. Here’s all you need to know about it.

A Full Moon Does What For The Hair?

Kapoor’s nani taught her to cut or trim her hair on days that the moon was waxing, i.e, becoming larger in size or turning full. She believed that it enhanced and accelerated the growth of the hair. But she cautioned that a waning moon, or a new moon, could impact this growth negatively and slow it down.

According to Mira, cutting your hair on this day strengthens the roots and thickens the hair. This line of thought is not backed by science. But many continue to turn to it as a means to grow their hair.

Is There Any Truth To This Claim?

The rationale is, if the moon can affect the tides, why can’t it do the same for the hair? The visual increase in the size of the moon indicates growth while the reduction indicates the opposite because of the diminishing light of the moon. Though this claim isn’t scientifically-backed, many believe that it works, and thus, schedule their clients’ haircuts accordingly!

But Mira didn’t simply depend on this claim during the course of her hair-loss journey. She supplemented her haircuts with a lot of (science-backed) tips and tricks to grow the hair.

While I don’t particularly buy this theory, there’s no harm in putting it to the test. You know where I’ll be on the next full moon.
