Editor’s Review: Does The Milk Makeup Cooling Water Jelly Tint Live Up To The Hype?

But Milk Makeup isn’t available in India…yet! So I contacted an Instagram reseller and asked them to get me the product. I got myself the blush in the shade Burst, a poppy pink. In case you didn’t know, plenty of resellers on Instagram source authentic international products and sell them in India (for a slightly higher rate, of course).
We pay a lot of customs duties on any international packages we receive in India; these sellers act as middlemen, doing all the dirty (read: tedious) work of coordinating with customs, paying duties and shipping. These are the Instagram handles of a few sellers I shop from regularly – @makeup_internationalbrands, @letsmakeup_international, @makeup_and_u, @internationalmakeup_original.
What Is It?
The Milk Milk Makeup Cooling Water Jelly Tint is a long-lasting lip and cheek stain that’s clean, vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, gluten-free (apparently, that’s a thing in makeup also now!?) and non-comedogenic and non-acnegenic. That’s a tall list of claims, yeah?
Our Thoughts
What sets it apart is the unique bouncy, jello-like texture. Conventional lip and cheek tints are either in a liquid or cream format. This one is in the form of a translucent jelly stick. If you press down on it, it bounces back like actual jelly. It also feels weirdly cooling when it comes in contact with your skin. The cooling reminds me of rubbing an ice globe on your face. It’s fascinating because we haven’t seen anything like it in the beauty world.
The ingredient list? It contains vegan collagen to help firm skin, aloe to soothe and refresh and seawater to hydrate and give it that cooling effect upon application. However, the most unique ingredient I spotted on the list was agar, a gelatinous substance that gives this product a jello-like bounce. It has a mild, almost undetectable fragrance.
How To Use
If you’re a beginner, use it with a brush, don’t swipe it directly onto your cheeks. Swirl your brush around the stick, then apply it to your cheeks; this gives you a more seamless blend. The formula dries down pretty quickly, so best to work in small sections. It is fairly pigmented, to apply it in light layers. The product absorbs into your skin, so it doesn’t have a definable finish. It does not feel tacky, matte or dewy; it just feels like skin.
What It Looks Like
In Conclusion
The product is unique; it looks and feels great on the skin. I would like to own more shades in this collection. It has my seal of approval, but…yes, there’s always a but :). In hindsight, if I’d known this would last me only 6 months, I wouldn’t repurchase it. As a beauty editor, my makeup collection is massive; I am sure I will not be able to finish this before it expires. If you’re certain that you will end up using this every single day, you should definitely get it!
