“A boy and a girl! What more can you ask for?” said Prince Harry during his interview with Oprah Winfrey a few months ago. Ever since then, the whole world has been eagerly waiting to meet the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s baby girl. And, the wait is finally over! Meghan and Harry welcomed their daughter on June 4 and have recently revealed her name.
Meet Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, the youngest member of the British royal family. In an official statement, the couple said, “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex added, “Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.” According to their press secretary, both Meghan and her daughter are healthy and doing well. While talking about their daughter, the couple revealed that they have named her after two royal family members. They said, “Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honour her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales”
Meghan and Harry decided on the name after the death of Queen Elizabeth’s husband, Prince Philips, a few months ago. Honestly, we think it’s really thoughtful and makes Lili’s name even more beautiful.
We’re halfway into 2021, and it’s still raining celeb babies. A few days ago, Aparshakti Khurrana and his wife Aakriti Ahuja announced that they’re expecting their first child. We were overjoyed when Neeti Mohan recently introduced her baby boy to the world. And now, we have another reason to celebrate because Archie, Meghan and Harry’s firstborn, is a big brother to little sis Lili! Honestly, we cannot wait to see the first pics of the little munchkin soon.
