With the Veere Di Wedding trailer FINALLY out, it’s official: the movie is not what we had expected when the release was announced last year. The trailer tells us that the 4 ‘veeres’, which quite literally translates to ‘bros’, break a lot of barriers in terms of the reality of and what is expected of women, even in 21st century India.
“Bada hone ka hai munni, sajna dhajna bura hai munni!”
Oh, well, if you’ve caught a peek at the VDW trailer, you already know ‘sajna dhajna’ is LIFE, no fu**s given. All the characters, played by Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania, nail ‘you are what you wear’ in VDW and I can’t say I’m surprised. With Rhea Kapoor producing AND (I’m guessing) making all the primary wardrobe choices, it’s something I personally looked forward to the most. Here are 11 wishlist worthy looks from the Veere Di Wedding trailer we’re dying to see more of, but until then here are all of our absolute favourites:
1. All Black Bride
Kareena aka ‘Kalindi’ shakes her booty in a bold, black jumpsuit with a midriff cutout and a risque plunging neck from Australian label, Zimmermann. Doesn’t everybody wish they could pull this VDW look off?

2. The Extra Baraati
Sick of rishtas and ‘mother-lovers’ but dressed to kill, that’s what Sonam Kapoor’s character in Veere Di Wedding is like in a nutshell. Just take her supersized latkan earrings and her warrior-princess-like low cut blouse for example

3. Shady Bridesmaid
Swara Bhasker’s character HAS to be my fashion favourite out of all of them. She’s a 30 something, close-to-divorce woman who rebels through her wardrobe choices. That gigantic statement sleeve and those 90s tiny round glasses. Well done, miss Bhasker.

4. ‘Olive’ You
I don’t know about you, but I have a very definite ‘Coachella’ vibe coming off this outfit. Bohemian to the T, this olive floral co-ord set looks like it was made for that retro suede jacket. Love this VDW look!

5. Sparkly Shaadi Goer
Andddd here’s miss Bhasker again, in a ‘unicorn’ coloured metallic lehenga and blouse with larger than life ruffles on it. Go hard or go home, amirite? Perfect cocktail piece!

6. Bahama Bachelorette
This outfit on Sonam seems to be summoning the beach as you look at it. Blues, whites, bikini tops layered with knotter shirts. *aah*… But seriously loose drawstring pants, those lovely gold earrings and an oversized 80s bow, isn’t that what us fashion girls live for? Veere Di Wedding FTW!

7. Squad Love
She doesn’t seem like the type, but Swara Bhasker works a yellow swimsuit with a statement crop top with sheer ease. That crop top is so unique and to layer it over a bright yellow swimsuit? Goals, and how!

8. Quirky Cocktail
Kareena is on fire lately, with major ab development and a killer personal style along with it. Her character in Veere Di Wedding, Kalindi, is just as impressively dressed. There are too many things I love about this choli but what steals the show is… the colourful Rajasthani work down the front and the extravagant sleeves that compare to nothing.

9. Statement Choli
How about all that quirky embellishment on Sonam’s choli? Using prints of older paintings and intricate beadwork on the front, this piece will stand apart anywhere it goes.

10. Made For Mehendi
All Swara does in the trailer is sparkle! And no wonder she does… look at this Indian outfit – brilliant jadau jewels, sequined sheer kimono/cape. This is definitely one look I can’t wait to see more of.
