There was a time when Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya were called the golden couple of Tollywood. They had it all, perfect social media PDA moments, adorable couple hashtag (Hello #ChaySam!) and massive fan following. However, perhaps they forgot to put a nazar ka tikka on their relationship! Recently, the two announced their separation and left everyone in shock.
The couple shared a common statement to confirm media reports about the ‘trouble in paradise’. The statement reads, “To all our well wishers, After much deliberation and thought, CHay and I have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths. We are fortunate to have a friendship of over a decade that was the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us. We request our fans, well-wishers, and the media to support us during this difficult time and give us the privacy we need to move on. Thanking you for your support. (sic)”

When Chay Met Sam
The two met on the sets of their film Yeh Maaya Chesave in 2009 and instantly connected. At the time, Chay was dating Shruti Haasan and Sam was in a relationship with Rang De Basanti fame Siddharth. In an old interview, the Oh Baby! actress shared, “When I came to the sets of Ye Maaya Chesave, I was young, naive and had no idea how my future was going to turn out. But I met this boy who was sweet and honest and I liked him instantly.”
Dosti to Pyaar
In 2014 they met again on the sets of Autonagar and fell in love. From flirting on Twitter to their social outings, their relationship was perhaps the worst kept secret in Tollywood.
Family’s Approval
In 2015, Naga Chaitanya’s father, Nagarjuna, confirmed that his son had found someone special. At the time the entire social media was buzzing with #ChaySam posts though the couple didn’t confess to anything.
In The Public Eye
Samantha confessed to being in a relationship with Naga Chaitanya in 2016. In an interview, she said, “We became close from the time when we did our first film together in 2010, though at that time I didn’t know I was going to marry him. He was with me when I left for the US with just 30 dollars in my purse. So he has been a very important part of my journey as a human being and an actress. Now when I am all set to marry him, there is no uncertainty about my future”
The Perfect Wedding
Samantha and Naga Chaitanya got hitched in 2017. They got married according to Hindu rituals on October 6 and on October 7 a Christian ceremony took place. It was an intimate affair with just their close friends and family in attendance. The couple would have marked their 4th wedding anniversary on October 6, 2021.
For a long time, their had been speculating that all’s not well with the two and their recent statement confirmed the same. We hope that Samantha and Chaitanya continue to grow in their individual spaces and find the happiness they are looking for!
