Lilly will be the new queen of late-night comedy with her show A Little Late with Lilly Singh that will premier on NBC. She made the announcement on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in a truly Superwoman fashion and shared the big news with all her 8.3 million Instagram followers with a kick-ass caption: “I can’t even believe I am writing this caption… What is happening? I NEED TO SIT DOWN… I’m THRILLED to announce that ya girl is getting her own @nbc late night show! And not only did I get to announce this dream come true on @fallontonight but @sethmeyers came out and surprised me as well! We can’t wait for her to tickle our funny bones with this new show. She got candid on Jimmy Fallon’s show about her achievements, and at the same time generously expressed her gratitude to all her fellow comediennes: “A huge shout out to all the women who have been before me and are currently are in this space. Couldn’t have done it without them paving the path…”
Lilly’s show will include comedy segments and she will also be interviewing guests. When Jimmy asked what the show was going to be like, Lilly said, “Kind of like my YouTube channel but now I will have more than three staff members.” With her new show, Lilly Singh will be replacing Last Call host and former MTV VJ Carson Daly, who will be stepping down after 17 seasons. Her show is set to launch in September and will be executively produced by Singh herself, making her the only female to currently host a late-night talk show on one of the four big networks in the US.
