Fashion enthusiasts worldwide, myself included, are eagerly anticipating the arrival of fashion’s most prestigious event – the Met Gala. Hosted annually at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, this opulent affair takes place on the first Monday of May and serves as a dazzling gathering of luminaries from the world of fashion, art, and culture. Furthermore, the prestigious attendees adorn exquisite creations by renowned designers who leave no stone unturned to showcase their fine craftsmanship.
Over the years, the Met Gala has been synonymous with groundbreaking themes that captivate our imagination. The Met Gala Theme & Exhibition
The Met Gala 2024 is shaping up to be an event to remember, like always, with the theme “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” But hold on! This concept is not about dressing as literal sleeping beauties but rather a celebration of fashion’s rich history. The exhibition will showcase garments spanning over 400 years, including the works of Dior, Givenchy, Schiaparelli, and more. Interestingly, some pieces are too fragile to be worn again and so will be displayed through video animation and light projection.
The Dress Code For Met Gala 2024
This year, The official dress code is “The Garden of Time” for this year’s Met Gala. It is inspired by J.G. Ballard’s short story of the same title which was written in 1962, and invites countless interpretations. The dress code is also an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion, with the exhibit featuring around 250 rare items from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection.
The Guest List:
The guest list is as exclusive as ever, with around 600 people making the cut. However, the guest list is top secret and will only be released an evening before the coveted event as always. Some of the regular attendees include Rihanna, Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively, Kin Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and other members of the Kardashian and Jenner Family along with top designers. Since Zendya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth will be hosting the 2024 Met Gala, their presence is the most awaited one.
