Kim Kardashian has inspired an appreciation for her Pamela Anderson-style buns — the ‘do has chaperoned her to pools, beaches, and seas, and accompanied her strides across Dolce & Gabbana runways over the past few months. It’s either that — or a voluptuous cascade of platinum-blonde waves enriching her beach-bod aesthetic. But a new ‘do is on the horizon for the socialite, and it’s quite the switch-up (not a welcome switch-up for some) from the buns and waves. Really. Ahead — the look, and how hairstylist Chris Appleton creates it within seconds.
Kim Kardashian’s Divisive ‘Do Is Too Effortless To Not Love
Kardashian has accented her look with this half-ponytail, half-bun on multiple occasions. The slicked-back style was an attendee at one of Kylie Jenner’s parties and has modelled itself at the New York Fashion Week glamorously — alongside A-listers like Sarah Jessica Parker and Naomi Watts.
Notice how the loop is sitting right in the middle of the back of her head. To achieve the look, Appleton slicked the socialite’s hair back with dollops of a styling product, and gathered it all at the crown before creating a ponytail — but on the last loop, he made a half-bun instead of pulling all of it through the elastic. He let some of the lengths sprout out from underneath too. Don’t miss her jet-black roots that contrast her platinum-blonde mane. This lends a certain edginess to her look. You don’t even have to disguise the hair tie. So convenient.
Appleton calls it the wet-flip bun — because he runs a lot of product through the hair for it to play into the wet-glamm, slicked-back aesthetic. He concludes by raking his fingers through the hair to make it look a little textured and messy. This one’s a low-maintenance, no-effort ‘do that’s one of Kardashian’s only do-able styles. Honestly — this is no different from how we do our hair when we’re working from home. It’s just that Kim Kardashian is wearing it — so it’s kinda glorious. Yup.
