Right from its first promo Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal got everyone’s attention. But not for the good reasons. The show’s star-studded cast—Gashmeer Mahajani as Armaan, Karan Kundrra as Veer and Reem Shaikh as Eisha failed to make it work. The show is a blatant copy of the famous show The Vampire Diaries and that’s why fans called it a dull watch.
It now appears that the audience is no longer on board with the werewolf-witches love triangle. Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal is now set to go off air soon and as a fan of all things cringe I am really sad.
The show’s lead star Reem opened up about the show’s sudden end in an interview. She said, “We all knew that it was a 52-episodes finite show from the beginning. The show did well on the channel’s online platform, and, we put in our best. The entire team worked hard. It is okay if a show was not able to connect with the TV audience, we win some and lose some.”
In all honestly, Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal became fodder for meme pages on social media. The obvious plagiarism left no room for fans to connect with the show. While Karan, Reem and Gashmeer’s brilliant performances garnered love in the beginning, soon it wasn’t enough to pull a large audience.
It could have been a successful show if the makers had new twists to offer to the audience. But the same old saga that worked in the 2010s didn’t sit well with the Indian crowd.
As someone who will miss her cringe binge sesh of Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal, I am still hoping that there’s a season 2 happening. Maybe the team can learn from the mistakes and treat us to a gripping desi supernatural saga.
