When Karan Johar released his autobiography An Unsuitable Boy in 2016, it created a major buzz among his fans. The filmmaker spilled some shocking secrets in his book and talked about several important aspects of his life. He opened up about his sexual orientation without explicitly confirming it, and said, “Everybody knows what my sexual orientation is. I don’t need to scream it out. If I need to spell it out, I won’t only because I live in a country where I could possibly be jailed for saying this. Which is why I Karan Johar will not say the three words that possibly everybody knows about me.”
His revelation raised several eyebrows, and while a lot of fans lauded him for his honesty, there were many who trolled him brutally. During a recent interview with a leading magazine, KJo has given a loud and clear message to these trolls and we want everyone to listen.
Karan said that he no longer paid attention to online negativity around him and only focused on the good parts. He also said he refrains from sharing personal details on his social media handles and usually only talked about his movies. While reading his fans’ comments, he ignores all the hateful remarks and tries to find encouraging and lovely messages. “Commenting on my sexuality, on who they think I am…you know, I’ll be 50 in May and I’m grateful for so much,” he said.
The filmmaker had a sassy message for his trolls and honestly, we are loving his IDGAF attitude. He said, “Love me, hate me, for heaven’s sake, don’t be indifferent to me because it’s something that might kill me. Indifference is something I can’t live with.” Not going to lie, but given Karan’s charisma, it would be really difficult for anyone to ever be indifferent to him.
On the work front, Karan will be returning as a director after almost seven years with his upcoming movie Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. We cannot wait to see him recreate his magic on the silver screen!
