Thalaivii released on September 10 in theatres and on Netflix on September 25. We’re sure that you must have watched the movie by now and if you haven’t, we suggest you do it ASAP. The film gives us an insight into the life of actor-turned-politician J. Jayalalithaa and Kangana Ranaut has done an impressive job in the titular role.
The story is about a woman who keeps rising like a phoenix from the ashes by fighting for her respect in society and against patriarchy. She receives backlash from people for loving a married man, M. G. Ramachandran (played by Arvind Swami), but that doesn’t stop her from rising to power.
There’s no doubt that Kangana is an amazing actress and she has not failed to impress her audience once again with this role. She recently took to her Instagram handle and shared a note of gratitude for the entire team of Thalaivii. Take a look:
She wrote, “Rarely a film loved passionately and unanimously… And Thalaivii is one such film… I am glad people getting to know Purchai Thalaivi Dr J. Jayalalithaa’s story. also big thanks to my team for making a film which is a shining diamond in my filmography. #gratitude.”
This is really sweet, but this is not it. While the actress thanked her team for their effort, she also took a dig at other Bollywood celebs for not appreciating her movie.
In another IG story, she wrote, “Meanwhile, waiting for Bollywood Mafia to keep our political and ideological differences aside, just how I don’t find it difficult to appreciate genuine art, maybe they can also rise above petty human emotions and for once let art win #Thalaivii.”
Well, we didn’t know that it’s an unsaid rule that people need to appreciate everything they like and announce it on social media. Wait, it’s not? Then we wonder why the actress needs praises from the ‘Bollywood Mafia’ when clearly, her fans are loving the movie. It seems that instead of focusing on the love that she has been receiving, Kangana is more concerned with other B-town celebs’ views.
It’s not the only important thing that she has conveniently ignored of late. We’re talking about a recent event where she was spotted at the airport, ignoring COVID-19 protocol and posing sans any mask. Take a look at this video that has been doing rounds on the internet:
In the clip, the actress can be seen posing for the paps and making a victory sign. The netizens were quick to notice the board that clearly stated ‘No Mask, No Entry’ in the backdrop and wondered if the rule didn’t apply to her. A few users asked about her mask wrote in the comment, “Wah she is not even wearing masks, security ne checking bhi nhi kiya 👏”
While we enjoyed Thalaivii, we are definitely not enjoying her ignorant behaviour. We hope Kangana gives her fans more reasons to love her and not shake their heads in disappointment.
