Actress Kalki Koechlin, who is in her third trimester, recently appeared on Kareena Kapoor Khan’s radio show, What Women Want. We actually do want a lot of things that she spoke about. Let’s talk about her unconventional parents to start with. The conversations revolved around Kalki’s pregnancy–her, boyfriend Guy Hershberg’s and their families’ reaction to the pregnancy. And, I have to say, it’s certainly not how an average Indian parent would react. Forget a child out of wedlock, some of us can’t even introduce our boyfriend to our family.
When Kareena asked her about what their families said, Kalki said that both their families are quite unconventional and aren’t too traditional in the sense of having to be married to have a child. “My mother is like, ‘Look, next time you marry, just make sure it’s for life.’ Because I have already been divorced once. So she wasn’t in a big hurry,” shared Kalki
Kalki was earlier married to filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and the two tied the knot in 2011. They announced separation in 2013 and ultimately got divorced in 2015.
While speaking about Anurag, she said that both of them were in different time zones when they got married and hence it did not work out. “It’s so much about timing, right? Like, maybe I was very young and he was much older, and the timing just wasn’t correct. We wanted different things at that point. I think that makes a big difference.” As of now, the two share a friendly equation with each other.
Coming back to her pregnancy, Kalki revealed that while she was not opposed to the idea of tying the knot with Guy, she did not want to rush just because she was expecting a baby. Further, talking about her wedding plans, she said that while she isn’t against the idea of marriage, she feels that the time hasn’t come yet.
The Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani actress also revealed her first reaction on getting pregnant. Kalki said that she could not believe and it took her 2-3 days to take the news in. However, both she and her boyfriend, Guy were on the same page about wanting to have the baby. “It was unexpected. We were planning in maybe a year or two to have kids.Definitely, it was unexpected, but we both felt like we want to go with it,” she said.
On the work front, Kalki was last seen in Gully Boy and in Netflix originals Sacred Games Season 2.
