As much as we love spending time on the ‘Gram, we gotta admit that social media can be quite a toxic place at times. Due to the shield of anonymity, people often get away with derogatory comments and there is not much anyone can do about it. While we normal folks might face online trolling once in a while, our beloved celebs are constantly scrutinised for every single move.
Recently, Indian actress Kajal Aggarwal took to the ‘Gram to talk about getting body-shamed. The actress is getting online hate because she is expecting a child and her body is changing. We honestly need a second to register how insensitive people can be.
Kajal penned a note for ‘self-absorbed morons and we are hella impressed by her. She wrote, “I’ve been dealing with the most amazing new developments in my life, my body, my home and most importantly my work place. Additionally, certain comments/ body shaming messages/ memes don’t really help 🙂 let’s learn to be kind and if that’s too hard, maybe, just live and let live!”
The Singham actress added, “Hormonal changes cause our stomach and breasts to get larger as the baby grows and our body prepares for nursing. Some might develop stretch marks where our body gets larger. Sometimes our skin will break out with acne. We may also be much more tired than usual and have mood swings more often. A negative mood may make us more likely to have unhealthy or negative thoughts about our bodies.”
Kajal concluded the note with, “Learn as much as you can about pregnancy. By educating yourself, you will know what to expect and feel more in control. Seek mental health support if you need it. There is no shame in reaching out for help. Do it for yourself and your baby. Talk to your doctor or nurse about where to find support.”
NGL, we are so infuriated that Kajal was put in such a position. Let’s get one thing straight—body shaming someone is NEVER okay. Period. We will never understand why some people feel the need to leave nasty messages or comment on a person’s body, outfit or appearance. Dear trolls, if you don’t have anything good to say, just keep shut.
We’re honestly glad that Kajal opened up about her experience and touched millions of hearts. More power to you!
