Janhvi Kapoor is no stranger to the limelight. Apart from her stellar acting prowess, the actress is also known and loved for her oh-so-adorbs personality and trendsetting outfits. But like every other star kid, she too is often asked to speak about the much-debated topics of nepotism and privilege, an important conversation that ought to be addressed. Recently, Janhvi broached the topics with much grace, and NGL, we loved her genuine take.
Speaking to a media portal, the Good Luck Jerry actress spoke about being anxious because she felt like was getting work only due to her background at the beginning of her career. She expressed, “During Dhadak and Gunjan Saxena, I have been made to feel that I got everything on a platter, and I got things I don’t deserve, which means that I am technically worthless, and I am getting opportunities because of the work my parents have done.”
She further added, “At the same time, I also felt an overwhelming respect and love for my parents, and I am being given love and work because of that. But the truth is that I love acting and I live for it.” Well, we’re loving that Janhvi is so self-aware that she can do both–appreciate her parents’ hard work while recognising her privilege.
Janhvi also spoke about how she deals with ‘nepo guilt’ and TBH, her opinion is such a breath of fresh air. She said, “I work my a** off to give it back to them for what they have done for me, and because I am doing what I do because of their love. And then I realised that what I can do is enjoy my work. I do have respect for the fact that other people have lost out on the opportunity. I realised that what I can do is to make sure that I can give it more than my best and my everything”.
Well, Janhvi we wish you all the luck and love in the world and can’t wait to see you soar high!
