Janhvi Kapoor Eats A Spoon Of Ghee Every Morning & You Should Too

Every time I hear the word “ghee”, my gut wiggles. I blame it on the weight I have gained recently. But my feelings changed because I read that Janhvi Kapoor treats herself to a spoon of ghee every morning as part of her beauty routine.

She does this because of the skin and hair benefits that ghee offers. Kourtney Kardashian is another celebrity who swears by ghee. Here’s why I’m going to try it too.

The benefits of eating ghee are way too many, so I will only mention the ones that are relevant for good skin and hair.

For Skin

  • It hydrates skin, making it appear plump and soft instantly.
  • Ghee lightens dark spots visibly.
  • It reduces the appearance of dark circles.
  • It treats dry and chapped lips.

For Hair

  • Hydrates the scalp and gets rid of dandruff or scaling.
  • Stimulates hair growth by providing nourishment to the scalp.
  • The rich fatty acids in ghee nourish the hair follicles and reduce hairfall.

DIY Masks For Skin & Hair With Ghee

Apart from eating a spoonful of ghee every morning, ghee can be used to make potent DIYs that work wonders for your hair and skin. But I check every box on the lazy girls’ list and hate DIYs that have multiple steps.

That’s why I’m here with the easiest DIYs with ghee so you can chill while it works to deliver glowing skin and gorgeous hair.

One For Dehydrated Skin

Maa used to (forcefully) smear a layer of ghee on my lips before I left for school for years on end. I hated it then, but now I know better. Ghee contains rich fatty acids, fat-soluble Vitamins like A, E, D, and K as well as antioxidants. All of these simply mean that ghee can provide long-lasting hydration.

Ingredients:

  • Ghee
  • Aloe Vera Gel

Method:

  • Heat 1 tbsp of ghee at a low flame till it simmers.
  • Remove from the heat and add 1 tbsp of aloe vera gel.
  • Once cool, apply on your clean and dry face.
  • Let it sit for 15-20 mins and wash it off with lukewarm water.

And For A Healthy Scalp

I was struggling with terrible dandruff. That was until mom’s pantry staples came to my rescue. Here’s a DIY hair mask that helped me get rid of dandruff.

Ingredients:

  • Ghee
  • Savlon/Dettol Anti-septic Liquid (not soap or handwash)
  • Cotton balls

Method:

  • Mix 1-2 tablespoons of ghee (or more as per your hair length and volume) in 1 tbsp of Savlon/Dettol.
  • Section your hair into small parts.
  • With a cotton ball, start applying the mixture to your scalp.
  • Leave it for 10 mins max and wash it off with cold water and a mild shampoo.

PS. do not use a clarifying shampoo after applying this DIY or you might face irritation or itching.
