It’s celebration time for the Ambanis. After they announced the engagement of their son Akash Ambani to Shloka Mehta, Mukesh and Nita Ambani’s daughter (and Akash’s twin) Isha got engaged to Anand Piramal, founder of Piramal Realty on 7th May 2018.
The elated parents hosted an extravagant party to celebrate the match and the who’s who of Bollywood, including Shahrukh and Gauri Khan, Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor and Aamir Khan, came to wish the happy couple. Nita and Isha wowed the guests with a dance performance and we couldn’t keep our eyes off them!
A detail that Nita Ambani personally took care of at the party was the cake. The mother of the bride selected a Delhi-based baker to prepare the perfect cake for her daughter’s big day. Deepika Khaitan, of Deepika Khaitan Cakes, was given just a day’s notice to bake the cake and fly to Mumbai with it.

“Nita Ambani shared the design with me and she wanted me to replicate it. No fresh flowers were to be used though, so I made fondant flowers,” the baker said. She made the cake in Delhi and packed it up to take it to Mumbai – all in 24 hours. The flavours on the cake were left up to the baker. The bottom tier was chocolate with coffee and vanilla buttercream; the middle layer was vanilla sponge, vanilla buttercream and strawberry compote; and the top tier was lemon curd filling. She decorated it with fresh fruits, fondant flowers and gold glitter – it had a summer feel to it.
The family loved the cake! Deepika later found out that lemon is coincidentally Isha’s favourite flavour, and her beautiful creation was a huge success at the party.

It’s not the first celebrity association for Deepika. She has previously designed cakes for Kareena and Saif’s son Taimur, Rohit Bal (who just celebrated his birthday), Pooja Bedi, and even Akash and Shloka.
It’s been a great start year so far! Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja just got married. Now, the proposal photos of the Reliance heiress Isha Ambani with her beau Anand Piramal are giving us something more to look forward to this year.
We have Akash and Shloka (and hopefully Deepika and Ranveer) next in line, so 2018 is definitely going to be dedicated to celebrity weddings!
