Now You Can Fix Your Foundation, No Matter How Dark Or Light

Though the Internet has associated foundation faux-pas with James Charles’ pale-white complexion from 2019 — almost like an ever-present backlink to the topic — most of us aren’t foreign to mismatches like that. You’ve possibly encountered off-putting results courtesy of a brand-new foundation that led you to believe that it’d endow your face with a goddess-like filter. But the truth is that it was just a mismatch, and you’re stuck with a product that feels irredeemable. But Instagram is a cornucopia of hacks, and it has recently added to its cartage a new foundation-correcting technique that fixes your base within seconds — no matter how dark or light. Here are the deets.

If Your Foundation Needs Saving, This Hack Will Play Knight In Shining Armor

Lena divides the face right down the centre to demonstrate both techniques to us at the same time. The MUA begins with a light-coloured foundation that imparts a ghostly-white paleness to the face. She does the opposite on the other side of the face — enlisting the expertise of a warm-toned, brown-ish formula for the base. Since Lena’s undertones are pink, this shade doesn’t just darken, it almost contrasts.

Now that both sides have been wrongly set, Lena does some damage control by going in with a bit of concealer on the darker part of the face. She deposits the product along the eyes, nose, forehead, and lips before blending it all in with a blender. This step instantly lightens and brightens — endowing her skin with a base that matches her skin tone effortlessly.

The next step involves further course-correcting for the lighter, pale-white part of the face. Lena mirrors the process from the previous step — only swapping the concealer for a dollop of contour this time around to lend a bit of pigment to the skin. She stripes the cheekbone, jawline, temple, and the area below the lips with the contour product before blending it in. The end result is a goddess-like glow that has chiselled and sculpted the face apart from endowing it with some much-needed colour. You can even bronze your face a little.

While many commenters marveled at the efficacy of the trend, some noted that the result was the same on both sides of the face — not realising that that was the point of the hack. The technique had worked so well that both sides had blended into each other almost seamlessly.

This MUA does just that. The only difference is that she fixes the lighter part of the face with some warm-toned concealer along with contour.
