Skin detox is fairly simple- just use some key ingredients and products to revive the way your skin looked not so long ago. Think of it as going to a spa retreat, but from the comfort of your home! Come on, book a ticket already!
Let’s Start With A Double Cleanse
What’s the first step to any recovery? Starting with a clean slate!
Remove makeup (if you’re wearing any) and wash your face thoroughly with a gentle cleanser. Next, take the same or a different cleanser and wash your face again; yup, double-cleansing. It’ll ensure that your skin is squeaky clean for all the other steps coming your way.
If you are suffering from maskne, double cleansing surely helps!
It’s Time To Exfoliate…Gently
It’s time to bring back soft and glowy skin. For your next step, you would need a facial scrub. Opt for a gentle scrub as it’ll carely buff away dead skin cells without damaging your skin in any way.
It’ll also remove the traces of pollution from your skin, revealing a fresh glow below.
It’s Getting Hot In Here
After you’ve double cleansed and exfoliated, it’s time to steam your face. If you do not have a face steamer at home, here’s what you need to do- in a big bowl, add some boiling water and a few drops of lavender oil. Bring your face closer till you can feel the heat and wait for about a minute before backing off.
Do this for about 3-5 minutes and you’ll start noticing how soft and refresh your skin feels already.
It’s Mask Time
Now that your pores are thoroughly cleaned, it’s time to indulge in some mask time. Admit it, masking is your fave part about vising a spa!
Apply a nice layer of a moisturising face mask (since the skin will be feeling extremely dry due to double cleansing and exfoliating) and lie down for 10 minutes. This will further draw out impurities from your pores, calm any redness on the skin and even help generate new skin cells.
Mask Num Two!
Oh, you thought we were done? After you’ve washed your face properly, apply a sheet mask to moisturise your skin from within. For the best results, put your sheet mask in the fridge ten minutes before applying as it’ll not only give your skin a massive hydration dose but will also reduce puffiness.
You can also use the excess serum to moisturise your elbows and heels.
Moisturise Well
Now that you’ve had quite the spa day for your face, it’s time to deal the deal with a facial moisturiser. Skip all your serums, facial oil and other fancy ingredients for just one day and use only the good ol’ moisturiser.
If you are really particular about what you apply to your skin, then use a customised moisturiser instead.
Just remember, our skin is a direct reflection of what’s happening inside. As long as you’re eating healthy, your skin will always look amazing.
Spa-cial plans are always a great idea!
