This Reel Is A Masterclass In Acing A Harry Styles-Approved Manicure At Home

Harry Styles’ nails have displayed more personality over the years than the much-loved Bella Swan throughout Twilight’s five-part series — the British singer-songwriter evolves the lacquers into ten small-size canvases all the time, and the results are transformative. Not just the manicures — but the fact that Styles is radically rejecting the idea that nail art has anything to do with gender.

His manicures run the gamut from dark to playful — and they’re pretty wearable too. That’s why — when Selena Gomez’s nail artist, Tom Bachik, did a Harry Styles-themed manicure for one of his clients, it had to be written about. The manicure is just as easy as it is pretty, and going to the salon to recreate the look isn’t on the agenda. Yup. Because it’s so DIY-able! Check it out.

Just Three Steps, & You’re Wearing A Harry Styles Aesthetic

Step One:

Bachik coats the nails in an all-clear base coat. We have a formula in mind that is vegan and cruelty-free and is endowed with long-stay, chip-resistant abilities. Just swipe it on, and you’ve laid the groundwork for the manicure already.

Step Two (Phase One)

The second step involves lacquering the nails with cherry-red hearts. The Love Edit by Manish Malhotra is an ultra-gloss, hi-shine formula that delivers a splash of cherry red to the nails. It mimics a salon-like finish and is just as long-stay and chip-resistant as the base coat. Since this manicure involves a little bit of nail art, you need something that dries off quickly. Again — this formula comes through. It’s quick-drying and non-staining — and since it doesn’t contain chemicals like formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP (amongst other things), it’s extremely safe to use.

Step Two (Phase Two)

Now — onto the hearts. This tool will help you draw the most precise shapes ever. Notice how Bachik begins by drawing two pea-sized dots close to each other before creating the base of the heart. If you don’t have this nail-art tool, you can try recreating the hearts with the ends of a bobby pin and toothpick. Just dip the ball end of the pin into some nail polish, and create two dots alongside one another on the nail. Make sure you’re positioning the heart smack dab in the centre of the nail. Now — drench the end of your toothpick in the same nail polish, and sketch the point of the heart by creating two diagonal lines from the dots to the base. Fill the nail in, and you’re done.

Step Three

Once the hearts have been made, all that’s left to do is seal the deal with an all-clear top coat and here’s a long-stay, cruelty-free, and vegan.

That’s it! Who knew wearing a Styles-approved manicure was so easy?
