My ‘Gram feed is constantly buzzing with the Met Gala updates, and the pop-culture junkie in me isn’t willing to miss even the trivial ones. I recently got to know that the carpet at the coveted fundraiser event was made in India in 60 days! Well, a while ago, I also got my hands on the exquisite menu that was served to the guests at the Met Gala dinner party. Scroll down to check it out:
Owing to Karl Lagerfeld’s love for glamm dinner parties, Olivier Cheng Caterers curated a menu inspired by French and Spanish designer Paloma Picasso and Rafael Lopez-Sanchez’s wedding reception in 1978. The celebration was curated by none other than the legend himself.
To pay tribute to this famous soirée by Karl, the Met Gala dinner tables were decked up with French linen napkins, varnished hand-painted candelabras, and bouquets of pink blooms. For starters, the guests were served chilled Spring Pea Soup with Baby Vegetables, Lemon Crème Fraîche, and Truffle Snow. For the main course, they had Karl’s absolute fave Ōra King Salmon with Vegetable Nage, Asparagus, Pickled Strawberries, and Radish– all served on vintage china. For the drinks, there was wine and diet coke.
The decor at the Met Gala 2023 was designed to emulate Karl Lagerfeld’s 18th-century Paris apartment library. Have a look:
While some appreciated the beauty of the food, others have been having a hard time making peace with the menu choice. “Sweet raptor Jesus, this is the menu for #MetGala tonight. celebrities are starving themselves to death and paying out the nose for the privilege. What is this crime against food???” wrote a Twitter user sharing the food plate. Have a look:
