Supermodel Gigi Hadid and Pillowtalk singer Zayn Malik have always been Hollywood’s ‘golden couple’. From their on-again-off-again romance to attending glamm events together, they’ve been giving us #couplegoals since 2015! However, we have a sad announcement for #ZaGi shippers—the two have reportedly parted ways.
The couple are parents to a baby girl, Khai, who they welcomed last year. While reports of their split have left fans saddened, the details of the breakup are concerning. Allegedly, the pair called it quits after Zayn had an ‘altercation’ with Gigi’s mother, Yolanda Hadid.
Here’s what went down: The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star alleged that Zayn had ‘stuck’ her. Sources say she wanted to file a police complaint against him but then decided against it. Yolanda has not shared any other details about the incident.
Zayn, on the other hand, has denied the allegations and shared his statement on Twitter. He wrote, “As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in. A place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart.”
The singer continued, “In an effort to protect that space for her I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago. This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been “leaked” to the press.”
Zayn added, “I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves.”
Meanwhile, Gigi’s team has also shared a statement. It says, “Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time.” According to their statements, Zayn and Gigi will continue to co-parent their daughter Khai and have asked for privacy.
