While Doja Cat can shave off her eyebrows on Instagram without anticipating a call from her mother, most of us will never be able to relate (regardless of our age). Even Kendall Jenner can sashay down the Met Gala without worrying about Kris questioning her very bleached brows. But because scandalising my desi parents with a pair of beach-blonde flicks on my forehead doesn’t sound too pleasant, I’m proposing a middle-ground. If the prospect of bleaching your brows has always appealed to you, there’s a way you make them look just as inconspicuous without having to commit to the entire concept of ‘bleaching’.
Desi influencers have asserted their creativity on Instagram by dousing their brows in concealers and foundations of all kinds to mimic the aesthetic temporarily. They’re pairing the invisibility of their brows with flicks and pigments of every type, and it’s setting the Internet ablaze with similar renditions of the trend. Ahead — a guide on ‘bleaching’ — aka concealing — your brows, and some looks for you to take cues from.

How To Fake Bleach Your Brows
How do you ‘fake’ bleach your brows? It’s simple. All you have to do is brush your brows with a full-coverage foundation or concealer as demonstrated in these reels, and continue dabbing until you’ve ‘bleached’ (read: concealed) your brows completely. Rowi has layered her brows with a light liquid-based concealer. She blends it all in with a brush and cleans the edges with a Q-tip. She proceeds to pick a darker shade this time — layering it onto a spoolie before brushing the hair strands upwards to ‘bring back texture’. The MUA, then, concludes with a setting spray to make the look last. You can complement the aesthetic with something as dramatic as her rhinestone-encrusted flicks.
This MUA‘s technique is in a similar vein as Rowi’s. She suggests using your go-to under-eye concealer to recreate the look. She conceals the tail-end of the brows first before brushing them with a spoolie. The next step involves concealing the rest of the brow and brushing the hair with a spoolie. The spoolie is crucial because it adds texture to your brow hair, and makes them look natural. She creates two pea-sized dots above and below her arches to play into the illusion of piercings.
Notice how these artists model the boldest looks on the lids. That’s the point of bleaching the brows — to dramatise your look further. Here are some of the prettiest iterations of the trend.
