Weddings have the innate feature of bringing a sense of ‘end-game’ feeling with them. Don’t get me wrong, the day is of importance and happy things, which we must address. However, there’s more to life. Ira Khan’s wedding is an example. The couple has been breaking barriers and just doing new things with their wedding festivities, and it’s all a lot of fun. Of course, there’s more to them, there’s more to Ira Khan, before and after being a bride.
Daughter of Reena Dutta and Aamir Khan, Ira Khan is a mental health advocate and founder of Agatsu Foundation. Reportedly, she also initiated a no-gifts policy at the wedding, asking guests to donate to the organization, as tokens. Agatsu Foundation focuses on mental well-being and making it more accessible for people. It has both, a clinic and a community centre for people dealing with mental health issues. This was after she addressed her struggle with depression. The organization was founded in 2021.
Before this, Ira Khan also directed a play, an adaptation of Euripides’ Medea, which was showcased at Prithvi Theatre. After her schooling from Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai, she went to the Utrecht University in Netherlands. She also has formal training in music, which she received from Ram Sampath.
Ira Khan is also know to support a number of other NGOs, and wanting to work in philanthropy is something she has always been vocal about. Previously, she also freelanced as an Assistant Director for Dahaad with Tiger Baby Films.
Nupur Shikhare and Ira Khan met during the pandemic, when Nupur was training Aamir Khan. Soon, Ira had also started training with him, and the rest, as they say, is history.
We wish all good things to the couple.
