Every month, Karan Johar answers more questions about nepotism and his fondness for launching his celebrity friends’ kids in Bollywood than anything else. Those questions aren’t exactly unfounded, as he’s launched the careers of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Ishaan Khatter, and Ananya Pandey, who debuted with Student of the Year 2 just three months ago. But it’s not like Karan has never given a break to an outsider. Sidharth Malhotra, who debuted with Student of the Year, is perhaps the biggest example of the same.
Now there’s a new kid on the Dharma block and he has no celebrity connections.
Karan has zeroed in on Lakshya Lalwani to be the parallel lead in Dostana 2. The film also features Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor. Lakshya allegedly has a four-film contract with Dharma Productions, which includes a mix of Bollywood and digital projects.
Even though Lakshya has a background in TV, it wasn’t easy for him to get this break. He went through a rigorous selection process, which included a series of photoshoots and auditions. Karan took to Twitter this morning to announce the news.
Both happy and excited to introduce the new kid on the Dharma block! LAKSHYA will be making his debut with us in #DOSTANA2 and from thereon, we hope to start a solid cinematic journey together! Please welcome #Lakshya and shower him with all your love and blessings… pic.twitter.com/zEgxX8a7V4

Karan Rubbished All Allegations of Nepotism
Immediately after he posted the tweet, negative comments about nepotism and Lakshya’s ‘connections’ started coming in.
But Karan isn’t one to take this lying down. He took a dig at the haters and tweeted again.
Yes I woke up to several inquiries asking about his film industry connections!!! He is NOT from the business and went through a legit audition process !! Am grateful to Shanoo Sharma for introducing LAKSHYA to @DharmaMovies https://t.co/47i6k0FSFe
