No matter how much we hate on Indian reality TV, we can’t deny that it’s super entertaining. While some may even say that these shows are scripted, we often tune into them for our own guilty pleasure. However, while they can be fun, sometimes the makers of these shows take it a tad bit far. To keep us glued to our screens, they try ridiculous things like dangerous “tasks” and encourage OTT fights that make our skin crawl with embarrassment. Curious to know what there are? TBH, we can still hear the guy scream “How can she slap” in our dreams sometimes. For those unversed, we’re talking about a clip from a show called Dadagiri, which aired in 2008. The format of the show involved testing the emotional and physical endurance of the contestants through tasks, which were carried out by appointed “bullies”. During one such episode, the “bully” Esha, slapped television actor, Ravi Bhatia. Not only did he slap her back but he also started to yell “how can she slap”, when members of the show tried to calm him down. NGL, when we look back at this moment we still experience second-hand embarrassment.
“Biggini” Shoot
Now a viral song, the ‘Biggini Shoot’ clip is actually from a reality TV show called Emotional Atyachar. This 2010 series was all about testing your partner’s loyalty. In season 4, a contestant named Poonam Sethi was on the show to check her boyfriend’s faithfulness to her. And during her interaction with the host, Poonam said some hella funny things that made us totally LOL. It wasn’t just her pronunciation of words that made us cringe, but also the sheer confidence of tooting her own horn throughout the show. Then just when we thought things couldn’t get worse, Poonam started to hit and slap her boyfriend when she found out he was capable of cheating on her. Well, talk about awkward!
The Karan Kunddra Debacle
We can’t talk about cringy moments on Indian reality TV shows and not bring up Roadies. In season 2017, all hell broke loose when Roadies Rising judge Karan Kunddra slapped a person auditioning for the show. The guy auditioning shared an anecdote with the panel where he said he slapped his sister coz’ she wanted to marry his best friend. On hearing this, Karan got really mad and hurled abuses at the contestant while also raising his hand at him. Though we obviously don’t side with the guy for hitting his sister, we don’t think Karan was right on his part to choose violence, as well. TBH, the whole thing was just a total mess.
Potty Fight
All about finding “true” love, this show has been on air for over 14 seasons. In a recent episode of Splitsvilla, we saw something that reminded us why we stopped watching this series several years ago. Two contestants, Nikhil and Shivam were spotted locking horns over matters unknown. However, things got more heated and the two men started bumping their chests together. But the highlight was definitely when one of them picked up a plant pot to break it on the other contestant’s head! Seriously, what’s happening even happening on this show?

Annu Kapoor and Kunal Kohli got into one of the most awkward fights on reality tv. It all started when Annu gave an extra point to a child for singing a patriotic song on the show, Antakshari. This didn’t sit too well with Kunal and he said that it’s unfair to the others, because no one should just get a point for song selection. The fight turned nasty as it soon became about who was more patriotic. And it was all so messy that even Rakhi Sawant, who was the third judge, walked out of the show.
