Not gonna lie, am a sucker for KJo’s Koffee With Karan. I mean watching the stars spill their secrets and seeing them in their fun element is pure entertainment, right? And of course, the juicy scoops and drama are just the cherry on the top. I am sure most of you will agree with me. But do you ever wonder how often have B-Town stars get into trouble for saying something they weren’t supposed to? Wondering who we’re talking about? Well, we’re talking about Bollywood’s very own fashionista. Yep, you guessed it right, Sonam Kapoor.
Do you remember when Sonam Kapoor had done an episode with Deepika Padukone back in 2010? Yep, the same one where they kinda said not-so-good things about Ranbir Kapoor. For some reason, the video is once again doing the rounds of social media.
Let us refresh your memory. During the episode, Karan asked Sonam what she thought of Ranbir and she said, “Ranbir is a great friend but I don’t know if he’s a great boyfriend. I have known Ranbir all my life and as a boyfriend, I don’t know, I mean, she (Deepika) did a great job hanging onto him for so long.” Deepika simply laughed and said, “Thank you!” Turns out, this candid conversation may have resulted in a little friction between Sonam and Ranbir.
Earlier, in an interview with a leading daily, the Neerja star had said, “Honestly, I’m so fed up with this whole Koffee With Karan thing now that I don’t want to discuss it. Yes, it has affected my relationship. Some people get away with saying something. Unfortunately, I didn’t and I have to bear the brunt of it.” Uh oh, tough luck Sonam.
That’s not all, even Ranbir had opened up about the impact that the episode had on his life. And he did have a lot to say about the show, “Koffee With Karan actually started a barrage of negativity in my life, as you must be knowing.” He added that he has no preference and would go on the show with anyone, including ‘Sonam and Deepika together’.” Ouch, that sure must have hurt just a teeny-tiny bit, no? He also added that he didn’t expect the negativity that came with it. “Till today, there is so much of negativity that surrounds me. Certain fans of certain actors turned against me but it is fine. I would probably like to win all of them with my work than with just an interview on Koffee With Karan,” he added.
After this, we can’t help but hope that it’s all water under the bridge for these two. All these KWK talks are making me want to binge-watch season 6 yet again. So I guess that’s what I’ll be doing this afternoon!
