Farhan Akhtar announced Jee Lee Zaraa in August 2021 with Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, and Priyanka Chopra as the lead cast. It’s been two years and the film hasn’t even gone on the floors yet. And going by the kind of roadblocks the makers are encountering currently, it looks like Jee Lee Zaraa‘s production isn’t starting anytime soon.
We recently heard reports about how Priyanka Chopra decided to walk out of Jee Le Zaraa owing to her Hollywood commitments. This led to speculations about the film getting shelved altogether. However, a source close to the production refuted the rumours and said, “There’s no truth in it. It’s a project which will definitely be made because it is very close to Farhan as well as Zoya.”
As per recent updates, the makers shortlisted some names and Anushka Sharma was one of them. But now we hear that the Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi actress has also turned down the movie citing schedule issues. A source shared the same in an interaction with a popular entertainment media platform. They said, “Anushka was excited about the idea of a female-led journey of self-discovery, but the shooting timelines were not matching with her calendar. She has to balance her personal life with her profession and allotting the number of days that Farhan asked for was not possible. There are a lot of combination dates with Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt, but it was not in line with her schedule.”
With this, the Jee Le Zaraa makers are back to grand zero with the film’s shoot and are still looking for a lead. Gotta say, replacing PC won’t be an easy task!
Alia Bhatt On Not Giving Up On Jee Le Zaraa
Back in 2022, we heard similar rumours about Jee Le Zaraa getting cancelled. However, Alia was quick to shut them down. She said, “It’s happening! We will go on floors next year. Of course, we cannot go on the floor this year (Indicating her pregnancy). We ain’t letting that film go. We are fighting for it and we are all too excited about it. It’s going to be quite massive and we can’t wait”.
Well, here’s hoping that makers soon find a replacement for PC and finally start shooting. It has been too long!
