Now that The Crown is coming back with its final season, we cannot not think about Lady Diana – especially when a significant part of the story is centered around her. Not that the world has stopped talking about her anyway. When we do mention the princess who changed how the royal family is perceived, fashion is one of the main things that comes to mind. Her style was particularly special; but it was also about what she delivered through it. The thing with Diana was that she made statements through her sartorial choices – and that is never going to get old.
Here are some instances:
1. The Baba Black Sheep Sweater
According to sources, Diana wanted to send out a message through this sweater. She was an outsider in the royal family, and it showed.
2. The Revenge Dress
We cannot mention Diana’s fashion and not bring up the revenge dress. It was what it sounds. The dress looked incredible, and she wore it the same evening when Charles admitted to having an affair.
3. The Elvis Dress
Diana was intelligent and witty, and she didn’t shy away from showing it. In one instance, she nicknamed a white dress that she wore and called it the “Elvis dress” because the tall collars looked like the collars on Elvis’ jacket.
4. The Power Pantsuit
She also chose clothes that looked as empowering as she was. The princess wearing a pantsuit was one example.
5. The Chanel Dresses
According to Harper’s Bazaar, Diana stopped wearing Chanel products because the brand logo reminded her of Camilla and Charles. The intertwined Cs were the reason – but she started wearing them after her divorce was finalized.
6. The Athleisure Wear
After the divorce, Diana often wore sweatshirts, baggy clothes and athleisure wear. It was one of the ways to show that she was just a common woman, and her association with the royal family had ended.
7. The Versace Clothes
It’s also said that Diana chose to dress in more non-UK based designers after her divorce was finalized after years of separation. Versace was one of the important ones.
She was admired for a reason. She is remembered for the same.
