Deepika Padukone always manages to surprise us with the versatile characters she chooses to play. However, if we’re being honest, our favourite has to be Alisha from Gehraiyaan. DP’s performance was flawless and we could each and every emotion that she portrayed through her role. During a recent interview, Deepika opened up about that character and said there is something beyond what Alisha did in the movie that can destroy a relationship.
While talking to a leading daily, the Cocktail actress shared, “I don’t think I am anyone to judge someone else’s relationship, whether it has happened or not happened, or whether they are okay with it or not okay with it,” she added. She also explained that relationships are based on connections and if the connection is lost, there’s nothing left.
Deepika also revealed a major red flag that she considers way worse than cheating and we totally agree with her. She shared, “Sometimes maybe physical attraction is still sort of a passing thing. I think as long as you have respect for the other person, I think that’s really important. I mean, monogamy, physical attraction, sure, it’s one thing but I would be far more disappointed if there was emotional infidelity.” She further explained that physical infidelity isn’t okay, but emotional infidelity is far more hurtful than anything else.
TBH, there’s so much to learn from Gehraiyaan. The film makes us all rethink infidelity, love and relationships. And we can’t wait to see what DP has in store for us next!
