The powerhouse of a performer revealed in September her intentions of launching a brand that ritualises the practice of self-care — only to not comment on the subject for another month or so. But Padukone broke the Internet yesterday with a five-second teaser that hinted at the launch, and her comment section abounded with question marks galore from fans all over. Deepika Padukone endeavored to create a modern self-care brand that defined the archetypal Indian woman — one that combined tradition with modernity in a way that enables users to reap the benefits of both through a well-crafted line-up of products. Her star-studded name is now attached to a brand that does just that — named 82°E (pronounced eighty-two east), Padukone’s brand ritualises the concept of self-care, and aspires to turn the act into something joyful and simple — something you can indulge in every day, and something that the rest of the world can benefit from. These products, as per Padukone, are enriched with a global as well as Indian ingredients.

What Does The Name Mean?

Deepika explains, “Our brand is inspired by the standard meridian that runs longitudinally through India and shapes our relationship with the rest of the world.” In other words — a brand that is “Indian in its ethos” and is global in its appeal.

Deepika Has Something To Say

Deepika’s note on the brand’s website reads, “With 82°E, I hope to inspire us all to connect with our truest, most authentic selves through consistent and humble self-care practices. The first step in that direction is our range of skincare products that have been rigorously sourced, carefully crafted, and clinically tested so you can build simple, joyful, and effective everyday rituals to care for the health of your skin.” The brand believes in the power of small, consistent steps to achieve long-lasting results.

What Will It Include?

While 82°E is a lifestyle-cum-beauty hybrid, the first category assumes a skin-first approach. According to Padukone, the line-up will include a cleanser, toner, moisturiser, eye cream, and SPF — all of which will go live mid-November this year.

That’s Not It

The actress revealed to Allure that she plans on venturing into other spaces in the future: candles, home decor, and athleisure among a few. “I’ve always been fascinated by spaces, interiors, and that sort of thing,” she says.

Just like that, Deepika continues her ascent.
