Last year, Kartik Aaryan was ousted from Dharma Production’s Dostana 2 and what followed next was pure chaos. There were several rumours and allegations, and netizens were quick to come up with their own theories. According to several reports, it was the actor’s unprofessional demands that infuriated producer Karan Johar. The filmmaker had later revealed in an interview that he was ‘fed up’ of new celebs asking for unreasonable fees for his movies. He said, “There is a younger order that is yet to prove their muscle at the box office. They’re asking for Rs 20 or 30 crores. For no reason. Then you want to show a report card to them and say, that hello, this is what your film opened to.”
His statements were considered a dig at the actor and we wondered if it was really Kartik’s unprofessional behaviour that caused the fallout. Well, if we did not believe it earlier, we have more reasons to ponder upon it now. Another director has come forward and shared deets about the actor’s tantrums that are quite shocking.
The Hindi-dubbed version of the Telugu film, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, starring Allu Arjun, was supposed to release on January 26. But, the movie’s producer, Manish Shah, had to cancel the plan after meeting with the makers of Shehzada. It is the Hindi remake of the OG film starring Kartik Aaryan in the leading role.
Apparently, the actor does not want the viewers to watch the Hindi-dubbed version of the original movie before the release of Shehzada. While talking to a leading daily, Manish called Kartik’s behaviour highly unprofessional and said, “Kartik Aaryan said if the Hindi-dubbed version of the movie was released in theatres, he would walk out of the film, which would have caused Shehzada producers a loss of Rs 40 crores. It was extremely unprofessional of him.”
By cancelling the release of the Hindi-dubbed version of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, Manish apparently suffered a loss of Rs 20 crores. Honestly, this entire controversy sounds quite problematic to us. The actor reportedly threw a tantrum to cancel the release of the original film, made a producer suffer a huge loss, and imposed a financial threat on his movie as well. Even if his intention was to safeguard his film’s box office collection in the future, his actions did not go well with the filmmaker. All we can say is that one does not need to pull others down in order to move ahead!
Kartik will be seen next opposite Kriti Sanon in the movie that’s slated to release in November this year. Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo is an action drama and we hope that the remake does justice to the OG film.
