Every year, January begins as a fresh new start. But before you know it, we reach the brink of December, often wondering how the year went by so fast. Apart from all the memories, it does bring with it some great moments and leaves behind some beautiful treasures to be cherished. And 2017 was no different, especially for some of our beloved celebrities, who got hitched this year. Here’s a look at some of the most cherished celebrity weddings of 2017 and what we loved about them.
1. Anushka Sharma – Virat Kohli
Although these two lovebirds were the last ones to get married in 2017, their wedding was one which we’ll not be able to get over for a very long time. The cuties who had been dating each other for 4 years, surprised us when they posted a beautiful picture (on Instagram) from their gorgeous destination wedding in Tuscany, Italy. We totally adored everything about Virat and Anushka’s stunning wedding – right from their outfits, to the decor and to the fact that they decided to have a private ceremony surrounded by only their close family and friends. #Goals
2. Neil Nitin Mukesh – Rukmini Sahay
Another stunning celebrity wedding 2017 we saw was that of Neil Nitin Mukesh and Rukmini Sahay. They tied the knot on February 9 and theirs too was a lavish but private destination wedding in Udaipur. Attended only by close family and friends. The couple hosted a grand reception in Mumbai later. Neil and Rukmini were introduced through their families, making this wedding an arranged match. But looking at their beaming faces and splitting smiles, you wouldn’t have guessed that they knew each other only for a couple of months before they tied the knot. Thus proving that arranged marriages can be full of love too!
3. Zaheer Khan – Sagarika Ghatge
Theirs is a love story straight out of a fairytale. The couple was extremely private about their love life and never really paid attention to anything that was said about them in the media…But the speculations were rife after the couple made an appearance together at Yuvraj and Hazel’s wedding last year. A few months back though, the two announced their engagement on social media and confirmed that they indeed were in love. Sagarika and Zaheer had a court marriage on November 23, which was followed by a number of grand functions. We totally loved all of Sagarika’s effortlessly gorgeous bridal looks. What about you?
4. Bharti Singh – Haarsh Limbachiya
Yes, the laughter queen was the queen of Haarsh’s heart too, but they just didn’t let anybody know. There were speculations about the two being a couple for the longest time, but they only got confirmed when Bharti and Haarsh appeared as a celeb jodi on Nach Baliye 8. They got married in a grand wedding ceremony in Goa on December 3 this year. The couple even had a kickass pool mehendi ceremony which was followed by a rocking sangeet and a grand wedding. Bharti and Haarsh’s chill vibe as a couple was quite visible at all the functions.
5. Aashka Goradia – Brent Globe
Love doesn’t see language, caste, culture or creed… It just happens! No other couple is proof enough of what we just said but Aashka and Brent. These two love birds had the most amazing wedding ever. Their wedding celebrations were complete with mehendi, haldi and sangeet. There was a white wedding that took place on December 1 in Mumbai followed by a Hindu wedding in Ahmedabad which is also Aashka’s hometown. The couple had a super interesting wedding hashtag that read #IndiaMeetsAmerica. We are in awe of the way these two made sure that both their cultures mixed together beautifully during their wedding ceremony which should definitely be applauded.
6. Samantha Prabhu – Naga Chaitanya
Samantha and Naga Chaitanya are not only two of the most famous stars in Tollywood, but also a very beloved couple down South. Regardless to say, theirs was a much-awaited wedding for all their fans. The gorgeous duo got hitched in not one, but two beautiful wedding ceremonies after dating each other for 8 years. The Hindu wedding took place in Goa on October 6, followed by a Christian wedding on October 7. We totally loved Samantha’s lehenga, which had Naga and her love story embroidered on it. How cool!
7. Amrita Puri – Imrun Sethi
Most of us remember the stunning Amrita Puri as the shy and simple girl in Aisha. She got hitched to the love of her life, Imrun Sethi who is a restaurateur, on November 11 in a gorgeous destination wedding ceremony in Bangkok. Amrita sure looked like a princess in her white and baby pink Sabyasachi lehenga, but what we adored ever more was the bright green Banarasi lehenga that she wore at her wedding after party.
8. Smriti Khanna – Gautam Gupta
Another beautiful celebrity couple who met on the sets of their TV show, fell in love and got bound in holy matrimony forever. Gautam and Smriti met on the TV show Meri Aashiqui and fell for each other. They got married in a stunning wedding ceremony On November 23 and we have to tell you – they looked just so gorgeous together. Smriti wore a light pink lehenga, while Gautam picked an icy blue sherwani for the wedding day. They made a very happy, beaming couple and that’s what we loved most about their wedding festivities.
