Tried, Tested & Reviewed: Celeb Beauty Brands That Are Really Worth The Hype

Last year, it felt like every celebrity launched their own beauty brand. Now navigating these brands can be a hit-or-miss affair, with so many options. How do you know which products are worth the splurge? So we asked the POPxo Beauty team for all the best and worst products they tried from celebrity-owned brands, and here’s what they had to say!

Nidhi Kavle, Beauty Editor, POPxo

Loved: The Rare Beauty Lip Oil because it was super hydrating, non-sticky and lightweight. A dream for dry lips that want to look glossy!

Hated: The Rare Beauty Melting Blush because the colour fades super easily and you have to keep reapplying it throughout the day. I’ve used much better blushes that are half the price. Definitely not worth the splurge!

Anwesha Das, Social Media Manager, POPxo

Loved: The Kay Beauty Crème Blush – Rosy Romance for its effortless blendability and soft, glowy effect. It feels more like a nourishing balm and less like makeup.

Hated: Hyphen Peptide Lip Balm, as it somehow made my already chapped lips even worse. A total letdown when you need that crucial lip comfort.

Sneha Kalra, Junior Editor, POPxo

Loved: The Fenty Skin Fat Water Milky Toner Essence for its multitasking prowess. It’s like a hydrating hug for my skin, making it feel plump and pampered right from the first use.

Hated: 82 East Sunscreen Serum. It’s a puzzle figuring out the right amount to use, especially for my oily skin. Too little clarity – the point of a sunscreen serum is to ensure your pores don’t get clogged by heavy sunscreens.

Nidhi Pandey, Social Media Associate, POPxo

Loved: Love Child by Masaba – I Claim Liquid Lipstick for its intense colour pay-off and longevity. It really stays put for hours without needing a touch-up.

Hated: I really dislike the Kay Beauty Quick Dry Liquid Eyeliner because it claims to be super pigmented and easy to apply but the pigment is super dry and the colour does not show up, no matter how many layers you add on. Plus, removal is so tedious because it behaves like a tattoo liner and comes off in splotches!

Aadrika Sominder, Beauty Writer, POPxo

Loved: The Fenty Killawat Freestyle Highlighters for their intense pigment and incredible staying power. I have three and they’re all part of my go-to product list. They truly bring the glow game to a new level.

Hated: Kay Beauty Lip Tints. Despite their lasting power, the weird smell and rapid drying time are major drawbacks. They’re just not user-friendly.

Navigating through the maze of celebrity beauty brands can be quite an adventure. While some products turn out to be absolute stars, others might leave you a bit underwhelmed. But beauty is all about personal preference, so take our recommendations with a little bit of salt!
