A saree is not just an attire; it’s an emotion.
Gowns are the first thing that comes to mind when we think of red carpet looks. But Bollywood actresses are here to break that notion! I’m seeing more and more B-town divas draped in six yards of elegance, be it a red carpet event or a celeb party. Sarees have become a popular choice, giving OTT gowns a run for their money!
Here are some of the most recent saree looks by our B-town divas that have me obsessed:
Malaika Arora
Only Malaika Arora can add her own edge to even the most classic looks. The diva recently wore a one-of-a-kind black-and-white saree that came with feathers instead of a traditional pallu! The pre-draped beauty designed by Rimzim Dadu featured waterfall pleats with a thigh-high slit in the front. It was teamed with a black tube blouse. This look is unlike anything I’ve seen before!
Shilpa Shetty
Shilpa Shetty was definitely one of the best-dressed guests at Sid and Kiara’s wedding reception. She had everyone mesmerised as she appeared in a silver saree from the label Itrh. The pre-draped saree came with a strappy blouse. Shilpa shone in the semi-sheer fabric covered in sequins, and the front slit added oomph to the look. The actress sealed the deal with a pair of diamond earrings and silver heels.
Kriti Sanon
It’s a known fact that Kriti Sanon loves sequin sarees. But the gold Manish Malhotra saree that she donned at Sid and Kiara’s reception was class apart. The translucent, embroidered saree was worn with a halter-neck blouse. Decked in sequins and beads, Kriti looked like she had walked right out of a fairytale. Definitely, a reception look to remember!
Bhumi Pednekar
Bhumi Pednekar recently introduced us to a unique way of styling a saree. She appeared on the red carpet at an awards ceremony wearing an ivory Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla saree draped over a mirror-work blouse. The sheer cape with shoulder pads, however, stole the show! NGL, this could have been a difficult look to pull off, but Bhumi did it flawlessly. Also, the diamond choker worked wonderfully!
Shraddha Kapoor
Shraddha Kapoor gave us a major lesson in minimalism as she donned a sky-blue chiffon saree that looked every bit elegant. It had a subtle sheen to it that gleamed without overpowering Shraddha’s features. The saree was beautifully draped over a matching sleeveless blouse and accessorised with a diamond choker and bracelet. An ideal look for a summer wedding!
Alia Bhatt
Sid and Kiara’s wedding reception was no less than a runway for our B-town divas! Alia Bhatt showed us how to attend an ex’s wedding in style as she made an appearance in a sequin saree. The see-through grey saree from the shelves of Sawan Gandhi was draped over a sleeveless blouse with a plunging neckline. I love how Alia skipped the accessories and let her outfit speak for itself!
Ananya Panday
Yet another saree styling inspo that we spotted at Sid and Kiara’s wedding reception! In contrast to the sheer sequin trend, Ananya Panday wore a black ruffled saree by Arpita Mehta with a shimmery border. With her saree and bra-style blouse, the starlet set a new standard for modern wedding guest looks. The emerald earrings complemented the all-black ensemble perfectly.
